All you need to do to subscribe is email text@animateyouth.co.uk then you can keep up with all Animate’s news if you at home, at work or away studying. Facebook animate now has its very own facebook profile. If you want to be a ‘friend’ simply search for ani mate (first name – ani, surname – mate) and send us a friend request. Then you will be kept informed of upcoming events and will be sent group invites to anything new we may set up! Happy social networking everyone! E:letter Animate sends out a monthly e:letter to many people across the Archdiocese with information about what has happened in the previous month and what is to come in the next month. It is a great way to keep in touch with what is going on and what you can get involved with. Youth Alive 2012 Youth Alive takes place on the first Sunday of each month at St Mary’s, Lowe House, Crab St, St Helens WA10 2BE 5th Feb, 4th March, 1st April, 6th May, 3rd June, 1st July, 2nd Sep, 7th Oct, 4th Nov, 2nd Dec.

Fr Stephen...

has now begun his sabbatical. He will be in South America from Jan to April, then he is back for a few months and during that time he will coordinate the lead up to the 2012 youth pilgrimage to Lourdes. In Sept he will go on a course in San Francisco before returning in December In Jan 2013 will take up a new appointment. We  pray for him on his travels after eleven years in youth ministry and setting up the Animate Team. ‘For me this has been a wonderful time, it has been a great privilege to work with thousands of young people and live with about 30 young people at Lowe House. Fr Simon will do a wonderful job and I pray for all the new initiatives that will go on over the next years. A huge thank you to everyone who have supported me, for helping to get off the ground what we know today as ‘Animate’, which was only a few ideas on paper for a number of years.’

Flame - CYMFED National Youth Congress 2012

‘Building on the legacy from the Papal Visit…building towards the Olympic Games…a major event for thousands of young people…Inspiring witness from Olympians…International speakers…the very best of Catholic Youth Ministry in England and Wales.’ Those are the words going out on the posters for Flame – a day conference for young people from across the country. It is aimed at those in year 10 to Young Adult and will be a day full of faith exploration. The event will take place at Wembley Arena on Saturday 24th March 2012 from 11:00am. – 6:00pm. Are you going to Flame Congress?

Catholic Youth Event at the Wembley Arena. March 24th 2012

The theme for the day will be ‘Fanning the Spirit into a flame’ – 2 Timothy 1:6-8. Speakers include Barry and Margaret Mizen, Fr Christopher Jamison, Pascal Uche, David Wells, with entertainment from Indecisive and drama from RISE Theatre.

Coaches will be going from

• Warrington
• Chorley
• Sefton
• St Helens

If you are going to Lourdes all you need to do is fill in your booking form and send £20. Your ticket has been paid for. If you are coming from a parish or school you need to send a booking form and £40. Booking forms available on the downloads page.

Thank You!

A big thank you goes to Hugh Donleavy from St Gregory’s, Warrington who spent two weeks of October on Work Experience with us. Not only did Hugh do a lot of work with young people from St Edmund Arrowsmith, and the confirmation groups at St George’s and St Patrick’s, but he also spent the two weeks living the animate life here at Lowe House. It was great to have him around and we wish him all the best for the rest of his year at school. Who knows, we may see him here full time once he is 18

Youth Night - TGI Friday!!!

TGI Friday is a new venture for Animate Youth Ministries. It is the name of our new weekly youth night down in our new Life and Soul café. Everyone likes to relax at the end of a week working hard at school, college, or uni, especially during exam time, so what better way to do that than to come down to the Life and Soul café in St Helens. It will be a place to come and spend the evening with other people of your age group as well as spending time each week doing different activities which may include exploring a different topic or theme, or simply chilling. There will be food and a tuck shop available during the evening and each week we will finish the night with a time of prayer.

TGI Friday!!! The basics... Who? Those aged 15-19 (Yr 10+)... When? Every Friday 7p.m – 9p.m... Where? Life and Soul café, Crab St, St Helens, WA10 2BE... How Much? £1 entry, bring extra for tuck shop.

Animate Volunteers 2012/2013

Each year animate relies on an enthusiastic, creative, energetic and dynamic group of gap year volunteers. Over a year we work with over 9,000 young people on retreat days, mission weeks, weekend retreats, TGI Friday, Youth Alive, Lourdes and much more. If you are interested in joining the animate team as a volunteer for next year please get in touch on 01744 740462. From there you can organise coming to visit animate and find out more about what being a volunteer entails.
