Many of us can find church a bit boring sometimes, sat on a hard bench, singing hymns and listening to the priest give his homily whilst you drift off and think about what you are having for lunch, but isn’t that what church is meant to be like? No! Youth Alive is a monthly Mass for young people around the Archdiocese. It is a mass planned by young people for young people, it’s a chance for you to really get involved in the Mass and change that idea that it is boring. We pick the hymns that are lively and reflective and the music group really bring the hymns to life filling the church with fantastic music, we dramatise the gospels and bring the word of God to life in many different ways. At the Youth Alive Mass young people are really encouraged to get involved in the Mass in everyway, from doing readings, bringing up the offertory to being Eucharistic Ministers and singing praise to God with the help of the music group.

December Youth AliveYouth Alive was different once again this month with a service of prayer and quietness to help us enter into this Advent season. The church was kept dark with only candles to light the whole space. With some gentle music, scripture and a drama exploring the meaning of this season, the main focus of the evening was a chance to enter into a number of creative and interactive prayer stations spread out around the church. It gave everyone a chance to take some time out from the busyness of life and really focus on what we are doing, waiting and preparing for the coming of our Lord! It wasn’t so quiet after this however as people gathered in teams down in the café to take on a number of fun challenges which proved to be very entertaining! Thank you all for coming to the last of our 10th year anniversary celebrations and look out for new info in the new year!
