Many of us can find church a bit boring sometimes, sat on a hard bench, singing hymns and listening to the priest give his homily whilst you drift off and think about what you are having for lunch, but isn’t that what church is meant to be like? No! Youth Alive is a monthly Mass for young people around the Archdiocese. It is a mass planned by young people for young people, it’s a chance for you to really get involved in the Mass and change that idea that it is boring. We pick the hymns that are lively and reflective and the music group really bring the hymns to life filling the church with fantastic music, we dramatise the gospels and bring the word of God to life in many different ways. At the Youth Alive Mass young people are really encouraged to get involved in the Mass in everyway, from doing readings, bringing up the offertory to being Eucharistic Ministers and singing praise to God with the help of the music group.
Dates and locations of future Youth Alive’s Youth Alive is a monthly celebration for young people 15+. A disco follows until 10 pm cost £2. 6. 30 pm Mass Feb 3rd St Teresa’s Queensway, Penwortham, Preston, PR1 0DS
June Youth AliveIn June we celebrated the summer by heading towards the beach, we got as far as St Helens church in Crosby and decided that was a good place to stop for Youth Alive (not really…it was all planned already!). With the help of coach 7’s planning group and many volunteers for different things we were able to share a great celebration with parishioners from the church. Thinking about the reading about the wise man building his house on rock and the foolish man building his on sand, we thought about what it is that we build our lives on. Is it solid foundations like family, faith and friends or do we build our lives on foundations such as popularity, fame and jealousy?
