Cardinal Newman, Year 8

On Monday 11th March, the team welcomed 10 young people from year 8 at Cardinal Newman in Warrington for their retreat day.

As it was the beginning of Lent, the theme of the day was ‘forgiveness’, paying particular attention to Luke’s gospel where Jesus says “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” (Luke 6:37)

Throughout the day, we looked at the importance of forgiving others and the effect that it can have on our lives and the lives of others when we are ready to forgive.

We also looked how to forgive ourselves: to not judge or compare ourselves to others and forgiving ourselves for not being someone else and loving and appreciating who we are!

Towards the end of the day we took some time out in prayer, to connect with God, to reflect on the ways we may have strayed from His path and plan for us and how we can ask for God’s forgiveness and get back onto the right path.

Overall it was a lovely day and a joy to work with the group.
