St. Peter's, Orrell
At the end of March we spent a week with St Peter’s in Orrell, doing a mission on the theme of Darkness into Light, also thinking about the story of the Road to and Supper at Emmaus.
On the Monday we worked with every year as an introduction to the mission, thinking about how we all have choices to make in our lives, and that sometimes we might make mistakes and sometimes we might just need that extra bit of help. But where is it that we get our help from?
In the sessions through the rest of the week we explored how faith can help us make these decisions in our lives through exploring different ideas of darkness and light using film clips, personal testimonies, and dramas.
For the week all the subject areas really embraced the theme and planned special lessons to help bring it into every part of their school days: seeing pupils getting to make invisible ink, creating light boxes, and getting to experience different situations with having their senses impaired.
We finished the week with a whole school mass as a whole community.
All in all a really good mission week thoroughly enjoyed by pupils and the team alike, and we hope that the theme can carry forward in the school community.
