Each year, around 500 young people make the annual trip to Lourdes with the Archdiocese Youth Pilgrimage. The pilgrimage has been running for over 35 years and 10 coaches from across the Archdiocese take part; Liverpool, Knowsley, St Helens, Leigh & Wigan, Penwortham, Warrington, Sefton, Widnes & Isle of Man and Leyland.
There is also the St Frai team, which includes young adults from 18 to 25 who specifically work in the hospital during the week.
While in Lourdes, the youth take part in an array of things. We pray together, work together, eat together, sing together, laugh together and come away with some of the best friendships and memories that we will treasure for life.
“When asked about Lourdes, it’s hard to sum up how much it means to me. I do however say that out of the 52 weeks of the year, it’s the one I look forward to most. Lourdes has helped me deepen my faith, meet people I wouldn’t usually meet and is very rewarding to work with the sick and elderly, where you get to know about their lives and know that you are making a difference.” Sarah Brooks Knowsley Coach 2.
